Boss Meet Up = Motivation

Our latest survey results reveal that 78% of people find that having a meeting and catch up with their boss about their work and progress helps them to stay motivated.

We tend to agree! Taking the time to go over the work you have been doing with another helps to re-set and re-focus. It can help to iron out issues and it is a good time to have any outstanding questions answered. Having a meeting with your manager may involve the praise and recognition everyone needs to spur them on at work as without that, it is easy to lose interest in daily tasks.

Many other motivating factors at work come from communication that a catch up with a manager brings. This may include the simple ease of communication with a boss, trust, inspiration and respect.

Everyone is different when it comes to what motivates them at work but what is clear is that most people need to have that regular catch up with their boss whether it is face to face or on the phone.

41% use Linkedin as their favoured social network to find a new job

In a recent poll to find out which social network users favoured to use when finding a new job, Linkedin came out on top. 41% of respondents said they would prefer to use it over Facebook, Twitter or Google+.

TipTopJob’s survey also found that Facebook was the second most favoured social network with 32% saying they preferred it. Twitter was the least popular with only 3% of users using it and Google+, 24%.

Most people are aware that the best way to find a new job is through networking which is why the social networks have become an increasingly popular place to start given that is it so easy and available 24/7. Each of the networks bring their own merits and usefulness to the table but when it comes to looking for a job we wanted to find out what people thought about them.

Linkedin is the most obvious place to start as a professional. It allows you to link in with other people, update your own professional profile, do company searches, contact people and update your own status. It is a “business” network and therefore most commonly seen as the best place to start looking for a new job. Mike Dauncey adds, “Linkedin is more commonly used amongst certain industries like Engineering, IT and higher end roles over those blue collar workers and careers in, for example, the Health sector so it will be more popular for certain industries.”

Facebook and Twitter are more for “social” uses and allow connections of friends rather than just business associates. Although they allow you to follow companies of interest, see job postings, network etc and can be useful for some in finding a new opportunity, Linkedin seems to be the most popular choice still. Google+ is becoming ever more popular given it is a Google product and works in a similar way to the other networks.

Have you found a new job through a social network? Which one? Let us know.

Think you want to be a lawyer???

If you are struggling to work out whether you want to be a lawyer or not and you want to investigate what the role involves, what training is required, what the entry requirements are and skills needed then check out this useful job profile we have put together for you…

“The lawyers’ role varies depending on the actual job. It is a myth to think that it involves being in a courtroom all day long defending or prosecuting.

A lawyer will act on its clients’ best interest advising them what their legal situation is throughout a case. Your actual role will depend on who you are working for and if you specialise in a particular area. Lawyers may work on civil or criminal lawsuits as well as other legal proceedings.”

National Hug Your Boss Day is confirmed for Friday, 22nd August 2014.

It is official, National Hug Your Boss Day is confirmed for Friday, 22nd August 2014.

National Hug Your Boss Day was created in August 2008 by TipTopJob.com. It was created in order to promote the awareness of relationships between managers and employees and between colleagues. In a nutshell, we believe that if you are someone who gets on with your boss, then you will be more motivated and productive at work.

We want to promote good working relationships in the workplace as at the end of the day, you spend most of your waking life at work. If you are someone who gets on with your boss and colleagues then you are going to be far happier at work than those who do not. We want to offer advice to those who do not have these healthy relationships as we believe it is vital to a company’s success.

Over the years, we have conducted much research and asked hundreds of questions about hugging your boss, relationships with bosses/colleagues and more to come up with some interesting findings.

This year we want to raise the awareness of employee relations within companies who have staff who do not work in the same office whether it is being located in different offices across the Country or World and only communicate via email, intranet, MSN, Skype and telephone. We want to find out if this situation changes how you feel about your boss and if it fundamentally changes your drive and motivation.

Our website allows you to play a game to find out who your boss is, take a test to find out how good your relationship is with your boss, check out “hugging” pictures of companies who already support the day and read serious articles about motivation at work for both the employer and employee.

We celebrate on National Hug Your Boss Day by asking everyone to take pictures or videos of “hugging” your boss and uploading them to the Facebook page or emailing them in to marketing@tiptopjob.com. To take part that is all we ask….

This year we are running a competition to find the BEST boss. Let us know why your boss so GREAT? We will be sending out a bottle of champagne to the BEST BOSS of 2014. We want to hear your reasons so get in touch with Corinne on coz@tiptopjob.com and tell us why your boss should WIN!!!!!

72% search for a job from their mobile at least one per day

With the increasing use of smartphones, it is not surprising that in our latest survey we found that over 72% searched for a job from their mobile at least once per day.

Not only that, our survey found that 28% of people actually search several times per day and 19% every hour. 25% said they searched once per day!

On the other end of the scale, only 17% said they NEVER searched from their mobile. As the months and years go by, this figure will reduce further. More and more people are moving to use mobiles for more than just telephone calls and text messages. Smartphone provide the ability to do so much more from a mobile with increasing speeds and ease.

So, where do you sit? Are you one of the 17% who have never searched for a job from your mobile? Do you think you may do next time?

If you are a regular user, do you use apps or the internet pages of job boards? And what else do you use your smartphone for other than phone calls or text messages?

We would love to hear what you have to say about this very prevalent topic. Let us know on FacebookLinkedinTwitter or Google+.

Affiliate Program

In our bid to expand worldwide and obtain local presence in each Country, we have launched a new Affiliate Program to find businesses and individuals to sell TipTopJob services in their chosen area.

We are looking for Affiliates or Joint Sales Partners depending on the type of business they are. Businesses can add TipTopJob to their portfolio and sell the services to existing clients or new clients. Individuals are invited to set up by themselves or with a team to sell TipTopJob. The Affiliate would be allocated a specific area/territory/country.

It is a simple way to earn extra revenue for a business as it is a simple add-on to what they would already be doing. The ideal business would be another job board, recruitment business or publisher that already have a sales team but this is not limited. Affiliates can earn up to 60% of everything sold.

The Affiliate would be allocated a defined Area which could be a Territory/Region/Country which would be discussed and pre-agreed.

We have set up a website dedicated to our Affiliate Program which can be found here: http://www.tiptopjob.biz.

For those interested and want to find out more, you can email us on biz@tiptopjob.com or call us on +44(0)1628 207350. Just give us a call and we can discuss whether this is something you can get involved in or not.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wanting to join us in our International expansion.

Thoughts on the Bulgarian and Romanian changes….

After the recent changes to allow Bulgarians and Romanians the right to work freely across the EU, we asked our users the question “How will allowing Bulgarian and Romanian immigrants to work anywhere in the EU impact other European workers’ abilities to find a new job?”.

The results have just come in and 50% of our users feel there will be a positive impact on other European workers abilities to find a new job. 29% believe that it would create no change and 21% felt there would be a negative impact.

Studies have predicted that it could mean a shift in labour wages for lower paid workers which would mean a negative impact to those in lower paid jobs. All predictions/suggestions are speculation though and it is difficult to know exactly what affects there will be until it happens.

How do you think these changes will affect jobseekers? Let us know your thoughts….
